Replace the 15-minute morning call with a 90-second post everyone reads on their own time.
Daily syncs eat 15h/week per team. A well-designed async standup gives the same alignment in 5 minutes of reading. Here is the format.
This page covers async standup rituals in practice: what to do first, how to turn it into real blocks in your calendar, and how to keep the plan alive when the day changes. Everything below is how we use Hioii ourselves — capture in Brain Dump, choose three outcomes, and box them into 30-minute slots with buffers.
Yesterday: 1 line. Today: 1 line. Blocker: 1 line (or "none"). No paragraphs. The format is the discipline — long updates signal unclear priorities.
One channel (#standup), posts between 9–10am local. Threading is for blockers only. If someone reads it 4 hours late, that is fine — async is the point.
Use one slot per week for things that genuinely need voice: roadmap shifts, hard tradeoffs, hiring. Async covers the other 4 days.
Start in Brain Dump and empty your head — tasks, ideas, worries — without sorting them. Then mark the three that define a successful day and drag them onto the Time Box grid, where each block is 30 minutes and every block carries a buffer. When something breaks (and it will), Auto-Organize re-plans the rest of the day instead of leaving you with a stale schedule about async standup rituals.
Teams do the same thing in Squad: a shared backlog, delegation with clear owners, and availability that shows busy or blocked slots without exposing the private content of anyone's calendar. Managers see delivery speed and a traffic-light view of what is on track — measurement without surveillance.
Hioii is free to start on the Basic plan, which includes monthly AI credits. Paid plans add more credits, longer history retention, Take Off data export and team features such as seats, shared projects and agent access through MCP.
Better than sync. The 9–10am window is each member's local 9–10am; everyone reads when they start their day.
A simple emoji rule on the third line: 🔴 needs help today, 🟡 watching, 🟢 fine. You scan 10 posts in 20 seconds.
In the first 4 weeks of a new team. Trust gets built faster on camera; switch to async once cadence is clear.
